SOUTH DEVON RAILWAY –
Transport Gala and ‘Behind the Scenes’ Weekend
8th and 9th September 2018

Part of the nationwide Heritage Open Days event; a great opportunity to find out how we run the railway as well as enjoy vintage vehicles and trains all day!

So what’s going on?
This is just a holding page until more details are known however facilities and events are expected to include:

Buckfastleigh

  • There are expected to be organised tours of the site
  • Vintage Bus – operating from the station forecourt.
  • Refreshment Rooms and Models & Gifts – open 9.30 – 17.30.

The SDR Association will have a stand in the Picnic Coach where information can be found about volunteering on the railway. The SDR Volunteer Coordinator will be on hand to answer any questions.

Staverton

Staverton’s café coach will be open, where you will also be able to learn about volunteering and becoming a member of the railway.

Totnes

SDRA Volunteer recruitment stand.

Ashburton

Our railway ran a further two miles to Ashburton in GWR and British Railways days, but in 1972 they built the A38 over the the trackbed.

Catch our former London Transport Red Routemaster ’Bus to Ashburton which will travel along the A38 Expressway.
