0-6-0PT 1369 is undergoing a full re-tube in the works at Buckfastleigh this winter. Work is well advanced with all small tubes already removed and a set of tubes being prepared for fitting. 1369 is now 7 years into its 10 year boiler ticket and will hopefully be back in traffic in good time for next season so it can get in some more good service before its ten year exam becomes due.

In the accompanying photographs volunteers are seen preparing the new tubes. The full time staff assisted by volunteers removed the small tubes last week. In the background 2-6-2T 5526 can be seen. A new set of tubes will be arriving shortly for this locomotive. It is hoped that the engine will re-enter traffic in late 2003

December 2nd 2000 Update

The re-tube started on this engine a few weeks ago is now complete and the engine has passed its insurance company hydraulic test today (2nd December). The engine will be test steamed in due course, but will not be needed in service before March 2003.
