Collett TK "536"

Collett TK "536" was restored at Buckfastleigh with a view to returning the carriage to front line service. The carriage is the subject of a loan arrangement with the Great Western Society at Didcot who have leased it to South Devon Railway for a 15 year period in return for the SDR restoring and maintaining the vehicle so that it can become a regular part of the Great Western train set that is being assembled for day to day use.

The exterior panelling was removed as required for repairs to the frame and new sections of galvanised panelling made or patches welded in place. The roof was been stripped, guttering removed repaired and replaced and the roof painted. The sides have been etch primed and finished in 1947 Great Western Livery.

The interior was stripped and repainted as per GWR specification of wood grains and white. All the seating has been removed and new material is already to hand for reupholstering to an original GW pattern supplied by British Furtex at Halifax.
